dc.descriptionThe article addresses the anteposition of the definite article to anthroponyms in Chilean Spanish, from a historical perspective. Therefore, it analyzes the earliest Chilean records of this construction and formulates interpretations regarding its development over time, with a special focus on the 19th, 20th, and 21st centuries. Specifically, it examines, on the one hand, the expansion in the combination of the article with different types of proper names and according to grammatical gender, and on the other hand, the evolution of the pragmatic and social values associated with the construction. Additionally, it reflects on how the Chilean philological tradition, from Andrés Bello onwards, influences the linguistic attitudes of the construction. In conclusion, the research delves into the contrast with data from Peninsular Spanish, the loss of the anaphoric value, and the development of pragmatic and social values. Additionally, it is argued that there is no sexist bias in the construction, and its predominance with feminine names is attributed to historical normative traditions.en-US
dc.descriptionEl artículo aborda la anteposición del artículo definido a antropónimos en el español de Chile, desde una perspectiva histórica. Por tanto, se analizan los primeros registros chilenos de la construcción y se formulan interpretaciones respecto de su desarrollo en el tiempo, con especial foco en los siglos XIX, XX y XXI. En concreto, se estudia, por un lado, la expansión en la combinatoria del artículo con diferentes tipos de nombre propio y en función del género gramatical y, por otro, la evolución de los valores pragmáticos y sociales vinculados con la construcción. De modo secundario, se reflexiona sobre cómo la tradición filológica chilena, desde Andrés Bello en adelante, repercute en las valoraciones sociales de la construcción. Como conclusión, la investigación profundiza en el contraste con los datos del español peninsular, en la pérdida del valor anafórico, y en el desarrollo de los valores pragmáticos y sociales. Además, se postula que no existe un sesgo sexista en la construcción y que predomina con nombres femeninos debido a las tradiciones normativas históricas.es-ES
