It is considered that the social educator from a multi and interdisciplinary perspective, is the professional adequately qualified to project and carry out basic actions at the community level, for the development of actions that favor active aging. For this reason, the objective of this research was proposed to analyze the negative stereotypes towards old age that may exist on the part of the students of the Degree in Social Education. Data were collected using the Negative Stereotypes Towards Old Age Questionnaire (CENVE). The results obtained refer to the highest proportion of stereotypes in the students related to the health factor. Lower levels of stereotypes were related in students who were in the last years of the Degree in Social Education compared to those in initial courses, where significant differences were observed (t = 2.76; p = 0.01). It can be concluded that as students increase their academic trajectory during the Degree in Social Education at the University of Murcia, their level of stereotypes towards old age is lower, although their eradication is not achieved at the end of their training. The need to review the curriculum in the direction of increasing knowledge related to older people is pointed out.Se considera que el educador social desde una perspectiva multi e interdisciplinar, es el profesional adecuadamente habilitado para proyectar y llevar a cabo acciones de actuaciones básicas a nivel comunitario, para el desarrollo de acciones favorecedoras del envejecimiento activo. Es por ello que se propuso como objetivo de esta investigación, analizar los estereotipos negativos hacia la vejez que pueden tener el alumnado del Grado de Educación Social. Los datos fueron recabados mediante el cuestionario de estereotipos negativos hacia la vejez (CENVE). Los resultados obtenidos refieren la mayor proporción de estereotipos en el alumnado dentro del factor salud. Se relacionaron menores niveles de estereotipos en el alumnado que cursaba los últimos años del Grado de Educación Social frente a los de cursos iniciales, donde se observaron diferencias significativas (t=2,76; p=0,01). Se puede concluir que a medida que el alumnado va aumentando su trayectoria académica durante el Grado de Educación social en la Universidad de Murcia su nivel de estereotipos hacia la vejez es menor, si bien no se consigue su erradicación al finalizar su formación. Se señala la necesidad de revisar el curriculum en la dirección de aumentar los conocimientos relacionados con las personas mayores en los planes de estudio de los futuros egresados.
