Between 1970 and 1973, fascinating political, social and cultural battles took place in Chile, in which contradictory experiences of time and representations of history interacted; a “historicity regime” emerged that had not yet been consolidated, and did not manage to harmonize the past, the present and the future in any way. Based on a systematic analysis of press archives, this article aims to understand the place that the present occupies in this very particular and effervescent period of Chilean history, analyzing the uses of time, the representations of history and the symbolisms of force in this period.Entre 1970 y 1973, tuvieron lugar en Chile batallas políticas, sociales y culturales fascinantes, en las que interactuaron experiencias del tiempo y representaciones contradictorias de la historia: un “régimen de historicidad” que no acababa de consolidarse, sin lograr armonizar en algún sentido el pasado, el presente y el futuro. A partir de un análisis sistemático de archivos de prensa, este artículo pretende entender el lugar que ocupa el presente en este periodo tan particular y efervescente de la historia de Chile, analizando los usos del tiempo, las representaciones de la historia y los simbolismos de la fuerza a lo largo de este periodo.
