Creation and preliminary validation of the Matriztic and Patriarchal Attitudes Test (TAMYP) based on the theory of Humberto Maturana and others

dc.descriptionAbstract Background: Since Humberto Maturana's theory, there are no instruments that operationalize the constructs of matriarchal and patriarchal/matriarchal culture and their relationship with mental health and ideology. We propose to develop and validate the Matrixtics and Patriarchal/matriarchal Attitudes Test (TAMYP) for this purpose, thus contributing to the validation of the proposals of Maturana and collaborators. Method: To analyze the psychometric properties of the TAMYP with two studies. Study 1 had a sample of 263 university students, 166 women and 97 men, aged between 18 and 50 years (SD=22.70; SD=3.44); Study 2 had a sample of 509 participants (general population), 281 women and 228 men, aged between 18 and 81 years (SD=36.53; SD=16.14). In both studies, Cronbach's and McDonald's coefficients were estimated, a confirmatory factor analysis was performed, and the nomological validity of the test was examined by means of structural equation modeling. Results: In both studies, the TAMYP scores presented an adequate internal consistency and factorial structure, the estimated structural equation models presented acceptable goodness of fit and were coherent with the theory of Humberto Maturana and collaborators. Conclusion: The findings show that the TAMYP scores have sufficient evidence to support their use and interpretation of phenomena in a population equivalent to the study samples, thus validating the model of the TAMYP. dc.descriptionResumen Antecedentes: Desde la teoría de Humberto Maturana, no existen instrumentos que operacionalicen los constructos de cultura matríztica y patriarcal/matriarcal y su relación con salud mental e ideología. Se propone desarrollar y validar el Test de Actitudes Matrízticas y Patriarcales/matriarcales (TAMYP) con ese propósito, contribuyendo así a la validación de las propuestas de Maturana y colaboradores. Método: Analizar las propiedades psicométricas del TAMYP con dos estudios. Estudio 1 contó con una muestra de 263 estudiantes universitarios, 166 mujeres y 97 hombres, con edades entre 18 y 50 años (ME=22.70; DE=3.44); El estudio 2 contó con una muestra de 509 participantes (población general), 281 mujeres y 228 hombres, con edades entre 18 y 81 años (ME=36.53; DE=16.14). En ambos estudios se estimó el coeficiente de Cronbach y de McDonald, un análisis factorial confirmatorio y se examinó la validez nomológica del test, análisis por medio de modelos de ecuaciones estructurales. Resultados: En ambos estudios, las puntuaciones del TAMYP presentan una consistencia interna y estructura factorial adecuada, los modelos de ecuaciones estructurales estimados presentaron bondades de ajuste aceptables y coherentes con la teoría de Humberto Maturana y colaboradores. Conclusión: Los hallazgos, constatan que las puntuaciones del TAMYP poseen evidencia suficiente para sustentar su uso e interpretación de fenómenos en población equivalente a las muestras del estudio, validando así el modelo teórico propuesto.
