| dc.description | The publishing industry, as part of a global project of entertainment culture, has swallowed up sensitive issues in communities concerned with the defense of human rights. Delicate matters such as migration, femicide, human trafficking, and drug trafficking are presented with morbid crudeness. In this essay, I review this type of consumer narrative disguised as a novel with social content. I emphasize the case of two Mexican novels, Temporada de huracanes and Paradis, both by Fernanda Melchor, as representative works of the publishing market of poverty porn. | en-US |
