dc.descriptionThe National Medical Institute created in 1888, became a space that promoted and strengthened Mexican medical geography. This article shows the scientific work carried out by Section 5 of the National Medical Institute between 1888 and 1911 to create questionnaires and indexes of medical geography, as well as cartography that sought to show an overview of diseases in Mexico. To do so, the Annals of the National Medical Institute and El Estudio were reviewed, two newspapers that narrate the characters who gave life to it and the complications suffered by Mexican doctors to promote Mexican medical geography.en-US
dc.descriptionEl Instituto Médico Nacional (IMN) creado en 1888, se convirtió en un espacio que promovió y fortaleció la geografía médica mexicana. El presente artículo muestra el trabajo científico que realizó la Sección 5ª del Instituto Médico Nacional entre 1888 y 1907 para crear cuestionarios e índices de geografía médica, así como cartografía que pretendía mostrar un panorama de las enfermedades en México. Para lo anterior, se revisaron los Anales del Instituto Médico Nacional y El Estudio, dos periódicos que narran los personajes que le dieron vida y las complicaciones que padecieron los galenos mexicanos para fomentar la geografía médica mexicana.es-ES
