dc.descriptionFollowing the publication of his novel Crabwalk (Im Krebsgang) in 2002, Günter Grass publicly regretted that he and his entire generation had ignored the memory of the millions of German refugees at the end of World War II. This paper aims to show that the memory of this group, to which Grass himself belonged, is a fundamental element in his work, even if he claimed that it had even been a taboo for him and for German society. Special attention is paid to two works that appeared at very significant moments in his life: his first novel after reunification and after he won the Nobel Prize for Literature, respectively. The process experienced by the author is also placed in the context of a country whose relationship with the past is in permanent transformation.en-US
dc.descriptionA raíz de la publicación de su novela A paso de cangrejo (Im Krebsgang) en 2002, Günter Grass lamenta públicamente que tanto él como toda su generación habían ignorado el recuerdo de los millones de refugiados alemanes al final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Este artículo muestra que la memoria de este colectivo, al que el propio Grass pertenecía, constituye un elemento fundamental en su obra, por mucho que llegara a afirmar que se había tratado incluso de un tabú para él y para la sociedad alemana. Se presta especial atención a dos obras que aparecieron en momentos muy significativos de su vida: su primera novela tras la Reunificación y tras la obtención del Premio Nobel de Literatura, respectivamente. Asimismo, se aborda el proceso que experimenta el autor en el contexto de un país cuya relación con el pasado se mantiene en permanente transformación.es-ES
