Apoyado en resultados de indagaciones anteriores, este estudio ofrece un panorama general sobre la historia de la máxima q.o.t., que se completa con indicaciones y sugerencias del A. En esa dirección, se analiza el origen de la fórmula; se propone una personal sistemática acerca de las circuns­tancias -dónde, por quién, con qué motivo y en qué forma- se ha hecho cita o mención de ella; y se destaca la singular impor­tancia que dicha regula iuris ha tenido en el derecho canónico, esfera donde nació como tal, y donde ha tenido una vigorosa vida que conserva hasta hoy.Backed by previous findings, this paper offers an overview of the history of the maxim q.o.t., which is complemented with indications and suggestions of the A. By the same token, the origin of the formula is analyzed; a systematic personal one about the circumstances -where, by whom, why and how it has been mentioned or quoted- is proposed; and the peculiar importance such regula iuris has had for the canonical law, out of which it was born and where it has had a forceful life preserved to date, is emphasized.
