The following pages account for an effort proposed as a task to be found, in the death of oblivion, the vitality of memory. This text is the result of a first approach to the task of tracking what we were, to understand the trajectory by which today we are configured as a professional category and to make a critical appropriation of the Reconceptualization Movement, not to dogmatically adopt its ideas, but to rescue them in their emancipatory potential and to creatively discuss their relevance to our present. The study subjects are articles published in the Social Work Journal of the Catholic University of Chile, Santiago, Chile, between 1970 and 1973. The analysis was made from the historical-methodological interpretative outline of the proposed profession by Iamamoto and Carvalho (1982), as well as the Marxist theoretical framework on which it is based.en-US
