RESUMENEn el siglo V a.C., Aristóteles concibe la metáfora como una figura literaria en la que se produce una transferencia del nombre de una cosa por otra. Sin embargo, en la última década del siglo XX, en el marco de la lingüística cognitiva, Lakoff y Johnson (1980) realizan otra propuesta: la metáfora cognitiva. Lo particular de ella es que no muestra un pensamiento figurativo, sino que expresa el modo en que los usuarios de la lengua comprenden la realidad. Según estos autores, a través del discurso, las metáforas cognitivas muestran una concepción del mundo. En este trabajo, nos hemos propuesto describir el uso de la metáfora cognitiva en el discurso periodístico centrado en el campo de la salud. Específicamente, nos preguntamos si en este tipo de discurso las metáforas cognitivas expresan una determinada forma de concebir la salud. Para llevar adelante este objetivo, identificaremos todas aquellas noticias, aparecidas durante una semana periodística, en el diario La Tercera, y cuyo tema central pertenece al ámbito de la salud.   ABSTRACTIn the 5th century BC, Aristotle conceives metaphor as a literary device in which the name of one thing is transferred to another.  However, in the last decade of the twentieth century, within the framework of cognitive linguistics, Lakoff and Johnson (1980) propose the concept of cognitive metaphor. Its peculiarity is that it does not reflect figurative thought but it expresses the way in which the users of language comprehend reality. According to these authors, through discourse, cognitive metaphors reflect a conception of the world. In this paper, we aimed to describe the use of cognitive metaphor in journalistic discourse centered in the field of health. Specifically, we ask ourselves if in this type of discourse cognitive metaphors express a certain form of conceiving health. In order to accomplish this objective, we will collect all news appearing during one journalistic week in the newspaper La Tercera that has a central theme belonging to the area of health.
