| dc.description | The aim of the paper is to present a balance of studies on paternities of gay men in Latin America. For this purpose, has been carried a bibliographic search out in databases and specialized journals in gender and family studies. Then, was undertaken an exercise to categorize their research objects, their theoretical and methodological approaches, and their conclusions. In general, the research focuses on two issues: representations of being a father and paternity practices. | dc.description | El objetivo de este artículo es presentar un balance de los estudios realizados en América Latina sobre paternidades de hombres que se identifican con una orientación sexual distinta a la heterosexual. Para ello, se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en bases de datos y en revistas especializadas en los estudios de género y familia. Luego, se emprendió un ejercicio de categorización de sus objetos de investigación, sus enfoques teóricos y metodológicos, y sus conclusiones. En general, las investigaciones se concentran en dos temas: las representaciones de ser padre y las prácticas de paternidad.
