dc.descriptionThis paper proposes a methodological approach to identify the residential habitat of inhabitants according to their culture; in this case that of the Mapuche people. To this end, a sample of a few families settled in Chomio, located in the Commune of Padre Las Casas, 10km southeast of Temuco were selected. The study used human science concepts of culture having determined that local architecture employs obsolete concepts. Such an approach allowed us to identify the different realities of the Mapuche people, described throughout this paper: High level of emotional cohesion among members of Mapuche families. A rigid huinca influence on the worldview of the Mapuche people. The Spanish Crown recognized the Mapuche people as an “Independent Nation” by Royal Decree issued by King Philip IV in 1643. However, 249 years later the newly independent Chile destroyed the socio-cultural organization of the Mapuche Nation. History has not revealed the real reasons underlying the implementation of the plan known to this day as “the pacification of Araucania”.en-US
dc.descriptionEn el artículo se propone un enfoque metodológico para identificar el hábitat residencial del habitante según su cultura, en este caso, del mapuche. Para esto fue seleccionada una muestra de pocas familias asentadas en el sector de Chomío, perteneciente a la Comuna de Padre Las Casas, ubicado a 10 km al sur oriente de Temuco. La investigación utilizó conceptos actuales de las ciencias humanas sobre cultura, después de haber comprobado que la arquitectura emplea conceptos obsoletos. En la investigación fue posible distinguir las siguientes realidades sobre el pueblo mapuche que se relatan en el desarrollo del presente artículo: Gran cohesión afectiva entre los integrantes de las familias mapuches. Existencia de una acentuada rigidez huinca sobre la cosmovisión mapuche. Reconocimiento español al pueblo mapuche como “Nación Independiente” mediante la Real Cédula dictada por el Rey Felipe lV en el año 1643. Sin embargo 249 años después, Chile con sólo 62 años de vida independiente, destruye la organización socio-cultural de la Nación Mapuche y la historia no ha sincerado a la posteridad la autenticidad de los principios y realización del plan que impulsó esa acción denominada hasta el presente, “Pacificación de la Araucanía”.es-ES
