| dc.description | The Quadrilátero Ferrífero (Iron Quadrangle) is a 7,500 km² region located in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. It is the main iron-ore-producing area in Brazil and has an industrialized economy whose contemporary landscapes reveal a process of urban deterioration that must be contained and reversed. The mineral exploration activities that were an integral part of the historical formation of this area, while contributing to the process of social and environmental degradation, were also responsible for creating places of social memory and identity for its localities, and therefore shaping this territory. This fact can be observed in its contemporary landscapes, mainly in its diverse types of historical built heritage, as well as various cultural features of the region.Thus, the aim of this article is to analyze the town of Miguel Burnier, in the municipality of Ouro Preto, a part of the Iron Quadrangle. The socio-cultural impacts arising from the establishment of mining and industrial activities in a given territory will be discussed starting from the study of the construction of its territorial identity and its cultural heritage of mining and industry, as these elements shaped its contemporary cultural landscape. | en-US |
| dc.description | El Quadrilátero Ferrífero es una región de 7.500 km ² localizada en la provincia brasileña de Minas Gerais, principal zona productora de mineral de hierro en Brasil, con una economía industrializada, cuyos paisajes contemporáneos revelan un proceso de deterioración urbana que debe ser contenida e invertida. Tales actividades de exploración, parte integrante del histórico de formación de esta zona, al mismo tiempo que contribuyen a dicho proceso de degradación socio ambiental, son también responsables de la creación de lugares de memoria social y de identidades de sus localidades, por lo tanto, configuradores de este territorio. Este hecho se puede observar en sus paisajes contemporáneos, principalmente en sus diversos tipos de patrimonio histórico edificado, así como variados rasgos culturales de la región.Así, el objetivo de este trabajo es analizar la localidad de Miguel Burnier, en la municipalidad de Ouro Preto, integrante del Quadrilátero Ferrífero. Con ello, buscaremos discutir los impactos socio-culturales derivados de la instalación de las actividades mineras e industriales en un determinado territorio, a partir del estudio la construcción de su identidad territorial y de su patrimonio cultural minero e industrial; elementos estos, configuradores de sus paisajes culturales contemporáneos. | es-ES |
