El Estado de Bahía tiene una extensión territorial comparable a algunos países menores que Brasil. Por lo tanto existen grandes disparidades regionales, que concentran el desarrollo económico e inversiones en infraestructura en la Región Metropolitana de Salvador. Algunas regiones tienen bajos índices de desarrollo económico y social y necesidad de infraestructura y servicios de transporte público colectivo a nivel interurbano y regional. El Gobierno de Bahía, a través de la Secretaría de Desarrollo Urbano, SEDUR, está elaborando un Plan de Accesibilidad Regional y Municipal para los centros urbanos de los Territorios de Itaparica, Semiárido Nordeste II y Sisal.El objeto de este trabajo es explicar los resultados de estos estudios ya realizados, difundiendo el conocimiento sobre las condiciones de accesibilidad de los municipios que están en la región más pobre de Bahía.The State of Bahia has a territorial extension similar to some countries which are smaller than Brazil. Therefore, there are important regional disparities that concentrate the economical development and investments in infrastructure in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador. Some regions have low economical and social development indexes, need for infrastructure, and need for public transport services at both local and regional level. The Government of Bahia, through the Secretary of Urban Development, SEDUR, is elaborating a Regional and Municipal Accessibility Plan for the urban centres of the territories of Itaparica, Semiárido Nordeste II y Sisal.The aim of this article is to review the results of these two studies, disseminating the knowledge about the accessibility conditions of the municipalities that are located in the poorer region of Bahia.
