| dc.description | This paper focuses in the meaning of the concept of sustainability in tourism and its indiscriminate and widespread use. In many cases, this concept has been transformed into a slogan for justifying certain developmental proposals in the tourism agenda of developing countries. Moreover, attempts are being made to counter the nave conclusion that the mere inclusion of sustainable development in tourism development is sufficient to counteract the harmful social and environmental effects at tourism destinations. This paper highlights some recent initiatives that foster the development of sustainable tourism in some areas and the use of some environmental management tools and methodologies in the planning of tourism activity as well. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo se centra en el significado del concepto de sustentabilidad, su uso indiscrimado y su banalización en el turismo. En muchos casos, este concepto se transforma en un slogan para justificar ciertas propuestas de desarrollo de la actividad turística en los países en desarrollo. Por lo tanto, se intenta prevenir sobre el riesgo de caer en la ilusión de que la simple inclusión del concepto de desarrollo sustentable en los programas y planes de desarrollo turístico ser suficiente para evitar los impactos socio-ambientales negativos que el turismo suele provocar en los destinos. Asimismo, se hace referencia a algunas iniciativas recientes en favor del desarrollo del turismo sustentable en algunas regiones y se enfatiza en la utilización de determinados instrumentos y metodologías de gestión ambiental en el planeamiento de la actividad turística. | es-ES |
