| dc.description | El presente trabajo se propone pasar revista al tema de investigación de «las ciudades como centros de transformaciones sociales aceleradas» y delimitar el campo y la función de la temática urbana en que están trabajando muchas entidades. El trabajo resume los debates que tuvieron lugar en una reunión regional organizada por la UNESCO y apoyada por la Ciudad de Viena, la Comisión Canadiense de Cooperación con la UNESCO (Viena, 10 a 12 de febrero de 1994) y los trabajos de expertos en la materia encargados por la UNESCO. En este documento no se pretende hacer un examen sistemático de la abundante literatura sobre el tema.El trabajo se divide en tres partes. La parte 1 presenta la escena: el advenimiento de una civilización urbana. La parte 2 trata de esbozar las transformaciones sociales más importantes que están afectando a las ciudades y condicionando su administración sostenible ahora y para el futuro, y presenta los constantes y difíciles problemas que se plantean a los decisores, y por ende, a la investigación comparativa transdisciplinaria internacional. En la parte 3 se indican los desafíos que afronta el programa UNESCO sobre ciudades. | es-ES |
| dc.description | This work reviews the research topic “cities as centres of accelerated social transformations” and delimits the field and function of urban themes that are carried out by various organisations. The work synthesises the debate that took place in a regional meeting organised by UNESCO and supported by the City of Viena and the Canadian Commission for UNESCO (Viena, 10th to 12th of February 1994) and the work of experts in the field appointed by UNESCO. This document does not intend to systematically exam the abundant literature on the subject.This work comprises three parts. The first part presents the scene: the advent of an urban civilization. The second part tries to outline the most important social transformations that are affecting the cities and conditioning their sustainable administration now and in the future, and presents the constant and difficult problems faced by the decision-makers, and therefore, by the transdisciplinary comparative international research. The third part identifies the challenges faced by the UNESCO Programme on the theme of cities. | en-US |
