Within the different areas of divination in ancient Rome, the phenomenon of prodigy (miracle) plays a central role in the biographies of prominent figures, Augustus was no exception and both biographers and historians who wrote his life realize a kind of predestination to greatness through a large number of supernatural episodes that run along its entire life. In the Republican period, the Romans were usually reluctant to accept individual prodigy as something decisive for the state perhaps by linking the monarchical period, however, to the first century BC this trend will change and also notice in the different treatment that written sources make the phenomenon, Augusto take this trend to legitimize power from a symbolic and religious views, which starts a constant in the treatment of imperial mantic.Dentro de los distintos ámbitos de la adivinación en la antigua Roma, el fenómeno del prodigio toma un rol central en las biografías de los personajes destacados, Augusto no fue la excepción y tanto los biógrafos como los historiadores que escribieron su vida dan cuenta de una suerte de predestinación a la grandeza mediante un gran número de episodios sobrenaturales, que transcurren a lo largo de toda su vida. En el periodo republicano, los romanos fueron normalmente reacios a aceptar el prodigio individual como algo determinante para el Estado quizás por su vinculación al periodo monárquico, sin embargo, para el siglo I a.C. esa tendencia cambiará y se notará además en el distinto tratamiento que las fuentes escritas hacen del fenómeno, Augusto aprovechará esta tendencia para legitimarse en el poder desde un punto de vista simbólico y religioso, lo que iniciará una constante en el tratamiento de la mántica imperial.
