dc.descriptionEstuarial coasts have been modified since they are the expression of a constructed reality, where the port vocation has been the core of this modifications. In La Plata Harbour (Argentina), it is observed how since its origin, by the end of the 19th century, it modified an area of the estuarial littoral of the Río de La Plata, to give an answer to the port’s necessities along the different development models that the country went through since the beginning of the State-Nation. The territorial transformations –from the construction of the port access channel, which gave rise to two islands –Paulino and Santiago-, to the destruction of a part of the internal coast for its adequacy to the enormous size vessel maneuvers in the new TECPLATA terminal- modified the area’s structure and had a territorial correlate in its geomorphology. The present work analyzes three events that had a remarkable impact in the area: the port’s origin and its access channel construction (1890), the elongation of the Southwest breakwater (2007) and the pivoting zone “cuatro bocas” (2012-2014). To carry out this research, a methodology to identify coastline variation along time, and its impact in the population, was implemented.en-US
dc.descriptionLos espacios estuariales han visto modificar sus costas desde el momento en que son la expresión de una realidad construida, donde la vocación portuaria ha sido el eje de estas modificaciones. En el caso del Puerto La Plata (Argentina) se observa cómo desde su origen, a fines del siglo XIX, ha transformado un sector del litoral estuarial del Río de la Plata para dar respuesta a las necesidades portuarias de los distintos modelos de desarrollo que atravesó el país desde su conformación como Estado-Nación. Las transformaciones territoriales -desde la construcción del canal de acceso al puerto, que origina la aparición de dos islas, hasta la destrucción de parte de la costa interna para adecuarla a la maniobra de barcos de gran porte en la nueva la terminal TECPLATA- modificaron la infraestructura y en la geomorfología del área tuvo su correlato territorial. En el presente trabajo se analizan tres acontecimientos que modificaron notablemente el área: el relacionado con la creación del puerto y la construcción de su canal de acceso (1890), la ampliación de la escollera sudeste (2007) y de la zona de giro “cuatro bocas” (2012-2014). A fin de llevar a cabo esta investigación se trabajó con una metodología que reconstruyó la variación de la línea de costa a lo largo del tiempo y el impacto percibido desde la población.es-ES
