dc.descriptionThis study aimed to determine the somatotype and anthropometric profile of amateur swimmers belon-ging to a team in Talca (a Chilean city). 20 swimmers participated (11 men and 9 women), ranging in ages from 10 to 14 years old. The Anthropometric weight, height, size, sitting height (ATC), tricipital, sub scapular and suprailiac; the diameters of the humerus and femur and the perimeters of a relaxed arm and calf were evaluated. The data were obtained by age groups (10-11, 12-13 and >14), and by comparing these, significant values were obtained in the ATC swimmers 10-11 years p = 0.05; in the group of 12 and 13 years triceps skinfold p = 0.001, p = 0.001 and subscapularis suprailiac p = 0.02 and the final target height (EDP) p = 0.03 and peak growth rate (PVC) p = 0.007. The data indicate that the anthropometric characteristics of size and scale are more developed and by having a meso-ecotomorfo somatotype, they are projected onto the higher level.en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente estudio tuvo como objetivo determinar el somatotipo y perfil antropométrico de los na-dadores iniciados de la selección de Talca. Participaron 20 nadadores (11 hombres y 9 mujeres) con edades que oscilaban entre los 10 y 14 años. Se evaluó antropométricamente peso, talla, envergadura, talla sentado (ATC), los pliegues tricipital, sub escapular y suprailiaco; los diámetros de humero y fé-mur y los perímetros de brazo relajado y pantorrilla. Tales datos fueron trabajados por grupos de edad (10-11, 12-13 y >14), al hacer la comparación de éstos, se obtuvo valores significativos en el ATC de los nadadores de 10-11 años p=0.05; en el grupo de 12 y 13 años los pliegues cutáneos tricipital p=0.001, subescapular p=0.001 y suprailíaco p=0.02 y en la estatura definitiva prevista (EDP) p=0.03 y pico de velocidad de crecimiento (PVC) p=0.007. Los datos indican que las características antropométricas de talla y envergadura se encuentran más desarrolladas y al poseer un somatoripo meso-ecotomorfo los proyecta al alto nivel.es-ES
