The job and the rules that regulate it have been changed through the history being due adapt to the development needs of society. Thus, we found the arise of the laboral regulation was marked by safeguard of the worker´s dignity, materialized by the working conditions and the social security. Nowadays there exist new forms of jobs like: telework, the outsourcing, temporary work, etc., that while are necessaries for the economic development of society, they are not been protecting the conditions under which perform the job, neither the worker ´s dignity. That’s why in this article we analyze the dignity from the history and legal perspective to contextualize and define the worker´s dignity from the perspective of the legal instruments of the ILO and the main courts in Human Rights, and finally we present some sub topics which allow contextualize the lack of protection of worker´s dignity in the current development of the job, such as: the new forms of labor recruitment, the violation of privacy of workers, lack of social insurance and workplace violenceEl trabajo y las normas que lo regulan han cambiado a lo largo de la historia debiéndose adaptar a las necesidades de desarrollo de la sociedad. De esta forma, nos encontramos con que el surgimiento de la regulación laboral estuvo marcado por la salvaguarda de la dignidad de los trabajadores, materializada por la regulación de las condiciones de trabajo y el aseguramiento social. Hoy en día existen nuevas formas de trabajo como: el teletrabajo, el outsourcing, el trabajo temporal, etc., que si bien son necesarias para el desarrollo económico de la sociedad, no están protegiendo las condiciones en las que se desempeña ese trabajo, ni la dignidad del trabajador. Es por ello que en este artículo se analiza a la dignidad desde la óptica histórica y jurídica para contextualizar y definir la dignidad de los trabajadores desde la perspectiva de los instrumentos jurídicos de la OIT y de los principales tribunales en materia de derechos humanos, para por último presentar algunos subtemas que permiten contextualizar la falta de protección a la dignidad del trabajador en el desarrollo actual del trabajo, tales como: las nuevas formas de contratación laboral, la violación a la intimidad del trabajador, la falta de aseguramiento social y la violencia en el trabajo, etc
