After the coup of 1973, the Chilean Catholic Church, maintaining the line of social doctrine implemented during the twentieth century, chooses to defend the victims of the dictatorship, positioning itself, in the midst of the institutional crisis that the country was experiencing, as the element of greatest containment and resistance against the severe repression that was exercised during those years. This investigation focuses on two edges of this resistance. On the one hand, there is the legacy of the Vicaría de Pastoral Obrera, which is circumscribed within the framework of resistance of the working class, manifesting openly a position of defense of this social sector. On the other hand, is the work of the Catholic Church in La Victoria estate, which focuses on a series of actions of containment and resistance carried out by the religious and lay community in the sector, which highlights the work of the French priests André Jarlán and Pierre Dubois.Tras el golpe de Estado de 1973, la Iglesia católica chilena, manteniendo la línea de la doctrina social implementada durante el siglo XX, optará por defender a las víctimas de la dictadura, posicionándose, en medio de la crisis institucional que vivía el país, como el elemento de mayor contención y resistencia frente a la grave represión que se ejerció durante aquellos años. Esta investigación se centra en dos aristas de dicha resistencia. Por una parte, se encuentra la labor de la Vicaría de Pastoral Obrera, que se circunscribe dentro del marco de resistencia de la clase trabajadora, manifestando abiertamente una postura de defensa de este sector social. Por otra parte, se encuentra la labor de la Iglesia Católica en la población La Victoria, la cual se centra en una serie de acciones de contención y resistencia llevadas a cabo por religiosos y laicos de la comunidad cristiana del sector, donde se destaca la labor de los sacerdotes franceses André Jarlán y Pierre Dubois.
