Dentro del corpus de la teoría de los movimientos sociales, está la temática de la afectividad. Éstas promueven u obstaculizan el devenir de los movimientos. Dentro del campo de investigación, se observa que hay pocas investigaciones que den cuenta de la angustia dentro de los movimientos. A partir de esta observación, se elabora una síntesis teórica basada en dos autores para comprender cómo investigar empíricamente estos procesos. El primero es Søren Kierkegaard, y el segundo es Paulo Freire. A partir de estas lecturas se elabora una síntesis en la que se describe como resultado teórico que la angustia puede vivirse de tres modos en relación a los movimientos sociales. Se denomina a estas formas de la angustia como a) angustia inhibitoria, b) angustia prescriptiva y c) angustia emancipatoria. Las primeras dos facilitan el reproducir el fatalismo y el fascismo, así como la última es la forma de la angustia que promueve desarrollar procesos emancipatorios. El artículo se contextualiza dentro del proceso socio-político llamado como el “estallido social chileno”.   Palabras clave: Movimientos sociales, angustia, teoría política.   *****   The anguish in the social movements: A reflection about the horizon of political action   Abstract    Within the corpus of the theory of social movements, there is the theme of affectivity. These promote or hinder the evolution of movements. Within the field of research, it is observed there is little research that accounts for the anguish within the movements. From this observation, a theoretical synthesis based on two authors is elaborated to understand how to empirically investigate these processes. The first is Søren Kierkegaard, and the second is Paulo Freire. From these readings a synthesis is elaborated in which it is described  as  a  theoretical result  that  anguish  can  be  experienced  in  three  ways  in  relation  to  social movements. These forms of anguish are called as a) inhibitory anguish, b) prescriptive anguish and c) emancipatory anguish. The first two facilitate the reproduction of fatalism and fascism, as well as the last one is the form of anguish that promotes the development of emancipatory processes.
