This research aims at analysing how secondary education teachers and students interpret the study of different curricular areas, and how teachers teach them to study in the classroom.  The findings show that: a) students report generally using memorisation strategies in their study of different subjects, and at the same time they consider that teachers evaluate precisely this repetition of information; b) teachers consider “the good student” to be the one having certain individual cognitive skills and motivation towards learning; and c) teachers have scarce knowledge about methods that enhance reflection or strategic learning in the classroom.en-US
