Presenta algunos hallazgos sobre sus actores -alumnos, directores y profesores- así como problemas de su desarrollo institucional, entre 1842 y 1889. Luego reflexiona sobre la historia larga de estas instituciones hasta su supresión en 1973, y formula hipótesis para una investigación mayor en curso, en la que se espera encontrar logros, problemas y tensiones.
