This paper reports the main results of a research project for evaluating the Quality of Service provided by the naturalists guides at the Galapagos National Park (GNP). Diverse professional skills of the guides were measured, as well as the tourists’ satisfaction level with respect to the guidance service. One aditional goal was the development of a demand prediction mathematical model, as an objective and practical tool to help determine the need for hiring new naturalist guides in the future. The field work consisted mainly in collecting relevant information, both of qualitative and of quantitative nature, concerning various aspects of the guidance activities at the GNP. Additionally, interviews, workshops and meetings with local actors involved in the touristic activities were organized.El presente artículo reporta los principales resultados de un trabajo de investigación destinado a evaluar diversas competencias laborales de los guías naturalistas del Parque Nacional Galápagos (PNG), así como el nivel de satisfacción de los turistas con el servicio prestado por los mismos. Un objetivo adicional del trabajo fue el desarrollo de un modelo matemático de predicción de demanda, como una herramienta objetiva y práctica que ayude a determinar la necesidad futura de nuevos guías naturalistas. La investigación consistió en recopilar información relevante tanto cualitativa como cuantitativa respecto al servicio que brindan los guías a los turistas en el Parque Nacional Galápagos. De manera complementaria, se realizaron entrevistas, talleres y reuniones con todos los actores sociales relacionados con la guianza turística en las Islas Galápagos.
