| dc.description | The objective of the article is to account for the insertion of women painters in the Chilean cultural field between 1850 and 1914. This period chosen because during, presence of women artists in the Painting Academy since 1866 and creation of the Women’s Artistic Society in 1914. During the nineteenth century, gender norms confined women to the domestic and private space and to the gender roles of mother and wife. It is a research that is framed in Cultural History and Gender Studies and having considered all of this, this research study the elements that allowed and/or hindered women’s access to territories that were assumed to be exclusive to men. The contribution of the research lies in the possibility is to visibilize the artists who challenged the traditional canons of the time; and that through different strategies they are managed to participate and obtain recognition in the cultural field | en-US |
| dc.description | El objetivo del artículo es dar cuenta de la inserción de las mujeres pintoras en el campo cultural chileno entre 1866 a 1914. Se propone estudiar este período, a partir de la presencia de mujeres artistas en la Academia de Pintura desde 1866 y creación de la Sociedad Artistica Femenina en 1914. Durante el siglo XlX las normas de género recluyeron a las mujeres al espacio doméstico y privado y a los roles de género de madre y esposa. Ante lo cual, esta investigación se enmarca en la Historia Cultural y los Estudios de Género y estudia los elementos que permitieron y/o dificultaron que las mujeres accedieran a los espacios considerados exclusivos de los varones. El aporte de esta investigación es visibilizar a las artistas que desafiaron los cánones tradicionales de la época, y que a través de diferentes estrategias lograron participar y obtener reconocimiento en el campo cultural. | es-ES |
