| dc.description | El trabajo discute el problema del éxito académico universitario desde una perspectiva teórica y empírica. A un nivel teórico, se discute la definición del éxito académico desde la perspectiva del estudiante, en forma de notas. Estas son analizadas en relación a su confiabilidad y validez y en cuanto a la pertinencia de su utilización como criterios para el estudio de la validez predictiva de pruebas de inteligencia. A un nivel empírico, se reporta el resultado de una investigación realizada con estudiantes de la Universidad Católica de Chile, en la que se evalúa el valor predictivo de diversos predictores cognitivos sobre la variabilidad de las notas, tratando de controlar los factores que en la literatura son considerados como limitantes de tal valor predictivo. | es-ES |
| dc.description | This work discusses the problem of university academic success from a theoretical and empirical perspective. The discussion at a theoretical level is centered in the definition of academic success from the student’s perspective, in term of grades (grade point average, GPA). These are analized in related to their reliability and validity and with respect to the pertinence of their use as criteria for the study of predictive validity of intelligence tests. The empirical level reports the results of an investigation carried out with students from the Catholic University of Chile, in which the predictive value of several cognitive predictors are evaluated in relation to the variability of GPA, seeking to control those factors considered in the literature as restrictive to that predictive value. | en-US |
