dc.description The aim of the present article is to describe the perception that 8th and 9th grade students have with respect to the socialization they have received from their parents and teachers, and the relation that exists between these two systems. For this purpose, four focus groups, with a total of 48 students, stratified by sex and socioeconomic level, were conducted. The results indicate that students perceive their families as a place where they receive protection and security, but at the same time, they claim for more autonomy and trust. With respect to their teachers, they make a clear distinction between those that contribute to their personal growth and those with whom they have a conflictive relation. With respect to family-school relationship, students perceive that parents have a low level of participation. Even though they understand the need for both systems to interact, they consider it very important to keep the limits between both systems clear, since the frequently fell threatened when both systems get together. en-US
