| dc.description | In order to describe changes in the gender self-image which occur when female leaders participate in community activities, 5 leaders and I non-leader life stories were reconstructed and analyzed qualitatively. The results reveal a strengthening and development of their motherhood and a tendency to a more giving attitude; self-efficacy in the public sphere; and personal strength and fortitude. These changes require gender consciousness and perception of similarities with Other women, and they also lead to a better self-esteem. Results show an integration of masculine and femenine contents in gender identity, where the first are incorporated and motivated by traditionally femenine meanings. | en-US |
| dc.description | Con el objeto de describir transformaciones en la autoimagen de género que ocurren a partir de la participación comunitaria de mujeres líderes de movimientos populares se reconstruyeron las historias de vida de 5 dirigentas y I no dirigenta. Los datos se analizaron cualitativamente. Los cambios encontrados son: fortalecimiento y ampliación de la maternidad y tendencia a dar a otros; autoeficacia en el mundo público; y fortaleza y entereza personal. Requieren de una conciencia de género y percepción de similitudes entre mujeres y conducen finalmente a un fortalecimiento de la autoestima. Además se definieron Otros elementos que intervienen en el proceso de cambio. Se concluye la existencia de una integración de componentes masculinos y femeninos, donde los primeros son incorporados y tienen sentido en la medida que cumplen funciones tradicionalmente femeninas. | es-ES |
