| dc.description | This descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out in a sample of 519 primary and secondary school students (M=10.67; SD=2.57) from the Primary Education stage of the province of Granada. The main aims were to define and to relate the perceived body image and levels of victimization in a group of school children. The main instruments used were the Stunkard Silence Scale and the School Victimization Scale. The results reveal that one-third of schoolchildren were perceived with silhouettes associated with underweight and 15% with silhouettes linked to overweight or obesity. In relation to the levels of victimization it was obtained that the verbal type was the most common. In addition, the relationships established between both variables reveal statistically significant differences for all types of victimization, specifying that those students who are perceived to be overweight are the ones that suffer the most relational, physical and verbal victimization. In this sense, it is concluded that the victimization of school-age children is closely related to their body image, highlighting the importance of developing intervention plans for emotional education and acceptance of others, as well as for the promotion of health. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este estudio de carácter descriptivo y corte transversal, realizado en una muestra de 519 escolares de segundo y tercer ciclo de Educación Primaria (M=10,67; DT=2,57) de la etapa de Educación Primaria de la provincia de Granada, tiene como objetivo definir y relacionar la imagen corporal percibida y los niveles de victimización existentes en un grupo de escolares. Como principales instrumentos se empleó la Escala de Siluetas de Stunkard y la Escala de Victimización en la Escuela. Los resultados revelan que un tercio de los escolares se percibía con siluetas asociadas al bajo peso y un 15% a siluetas ligadas a sobrepeso u obesidad. En relación a los niveles de victimización se obtuvo que la de tipo verbal era la más común. Asimismo, las relaciones establecidas entre ambas variables revelan diferencias estadísticamente significativas para todos los tipos de victimización, concretando que aquellos escolares que se perciben con sobrepeso son los que más victimización de tipo relacional, física y verbal sufren. En este sentido, se concluye que la victimización que sufren los niños en edad escolar se relaciona con su imagen corporal, relevando la importancia de desarrollar planes de intervención tanto para la educación emocional como para la promoción de la salud. | es-ES |
