An argumentative analysis is presented dealing with the dispute about the distribution of an emergency anti-conception drug in the Chilean public health network. The points of view of the Church, the Government and the Chilean scientists are established. To do this, the argument structures are presented, according to the Toulmin model. For us, disputing points of view result from the presence of alternative warrants regarding the same topic. Finally, an analysis of the force and legitimacy of the points of view is developed. The corpus is made ofdiscourses published in the Chilean press after Sunday 2nd of may 2004, day inwhich Cardinal Errarzuriz delivered a message to the faithful attending to the churches in Santiago, being the starting point of the disputeSe presenta un análisis argumental que aborda la controversia en torno a la distribución del fármaco de anticoncepción de emergencia (píldora del día después) en la red de salud pública chilena. Se configuran las perspectivas de la Iglesia, el Gobierno y los científicos. Para tal efecto, se extrae la estructura de los argumentos, según el modelo de Toulmin. Por perspectiva argumental en disputa, entendemos la existencia de garantías alternativas para un mismo tópico. Luego, se analiza la fuerza de los argumentos y la legitimidad de las distintas perspectivas. El corpus se compone de discursos publicados en medios de prensa chilenos con posterioridad al domingo 2 de mayo de 2004, fecha cuando se difunde una carta del cardenal Francisco J. Errázuriz a los fieles en las iglesias de Santiago, dando inicio a la controversia.
