Various investigations in the field of sports psychology have incurred on different topics, some such as the importance of the personality trait in sports success. The objective was to determine the correlation between the grit personality and the experience in championships in American youth taekwondo players. The study design was quantitative and descriptive-correlational in scope, carried out in a sample of (N = 121) male and female Taekwondo players from the youth category. The grit personality was presented using the Grit scale and the experience in championships was determined by the sporting events in which the athlete has participated to date. The average of the grit personality was 3.96 (± 0.51) in men, and 3.89 (± 0.39) in women, and from the experience of championships 14.71 (± 8.65) and 13.03 (± 5.88) respectively. A non-significant, positive and directly proportional relationship was determined between the two fundamental variables of this study, in addition it was identified that men obtained higher scores in the grit personality compared to women. Finally, and although the results are not significant, it can be suggested that a greater determination of the athlete may be influenced by a greater competitive experience, which suggests that the more championships participate, the athlete will have a higher score on the grit scale.Diversas investigaciones han incurrido en la importancia del rasgo de la personalidad en el éxito deportivo. El objetivo busca determinar la correlación existente entre la personalidad Grit y la experiencia en campeonatos en taekwondistas juveniles estadounidenses. Para ello, se determinó el carácter cuantitativo y de alcance descriptivo-correlacional, realizado en la muestra (N=121) taekwondistas hombres y mujeres de la categoría juvenil. La personalidad Grit fue evaluada mediante la escala de Grit y la experiencia en campeonatos se determinó por el número de eventos deportivos en que participaron los atletas. Los resultados mostraron que el promedio de la personalidad Grit fue 3.96 (±0.51) en hombres, y de 3.89 (±0.39) en mujeres, y de la experiencia de campeonatos 14.71 (±8.65) y 13.03 (±5.88) respectivamente. Se determinó una relación no significativa, positiva y directamente proporcional entre las dos variables fundamentales de este estudio, además se identificó que los hombres obtuvieron mayor puntuación en la personalidad Grit frente a las mujeres. Aunque los resultados no son significativos se sugiere que una mayor determinación del atleta puede verse influenciada por una mayor experiencia competitiva, lo que indica que entre más campeonatos participe el atleta tendrá una mayor puntuación en la escala Grit.
