School Religious Education in the public educational system of Costa Rica

dc.descriptionThis article describes how the subject of Religious Education in the Costa Rican educational system, being secular in nature, can contribute to make the Global Educational Compact practical in a world with religious and multicultural diversity. It begins with a vision of reality where the historical origin of the subject in Costa Rica is expressed, since it obviously has particularities that distinguish it from other models of Religious Education in the rest of the countries where this subject is taught. Then some descriptive elements of Costa Rican Religious Education are developed based on some theoretical references. In a conclusive way, some considerations are presented that express that Costa Rican secular Religious Education is in line with the principles of the Global Educational Compact where the language of the mind, heart and hands is proposed, and can be enriched to continue contributing to the formation of the student body from a Christian anthropology open to ecumenical and interreligious dialogue. dc.descriptionEl presente artículo describe cómo la asignatura de Educación Religiosa en el sistema educativo costarricense, al ser de naturaleza laica, puede contribuir para hacer práctico el Pacto Educativo Mundial en un mundo con diversidad religiosa y multicultural. Se inicia con una visión de la realidad donde se revisa el origen histórico de la asignatura en Costa Rica, ya que evidentemente tiene particularidades que la distinguen de otros modelos de Educación Religiosa en el resto de los países donde se imparte dicha asignatura. Luego se desarrolla algunos elementos descriptivos de la Educación Religiosa costarricense sustentado en referentes teóricos. De manera conclusiva se presentan algunas consideraciones que expresan que efectivamente la Educación Religiosa laica costarricense, está en consonancia con los principios del Pacto Educativo Mundial donde se propone el lenguaje de la mente, el corazón y las manos, y puede enriquecerse para seguir aportando a la formación del estudiantado desde una antropología cristiana abierta al diálogo ecuménico e interreligioso.  es-ES
