| dc.description | El ensayo detennina el trasfondo bíblico que yace en San Manuel Bueno, mártir, de Miguel de Unamuno, lo que se realiza a través de un rastreo minucioso de personajes y hechos presentes, tanto en el Antiguo como en el Nuevo Testamento. La narradora adquiere el carácter de voz evangélica y relata la vida de don Manuel, un humilde cura de aldea, en quien se fusionan las figuras de Moisés y Cristo, y diversos hechos relacionados con ellos. El conocimiento de estas relaciones es indispensable para comprender, cabalmente, el texto unamuniano.The aim of this essay is to identify the biblical background underlying Unamuno 's "San Manuel Bueno, mártir". This is effected through a meticulous tracing of facts and characters present both in the Old and the New Testament. The female narrator assumes the character of an evangelical voice relating the life of D. Manuel, a humble parish priest, in whom the figures of Mases and Christ are fused, together whith diverse facts related to them.
