Urban utopias have always sought ways to improve the relationship between men and territory, as well as among themselves. They have linked society with the city, proposing new worlds for new men. The analysis of urban theories of the sixties and seventies provides us with a study framework where it can be inferred that the incipient globalization led to the production of a series of nonrealistic theoretical projects, in which infinite structures, spread throughout the Earth, served to make room for the new post-industrial society. The current reality presents some points of contacts with these visionary works, such as the important development of telecommunications in the last twenty years, and it serves as starting point for new reflections that seek to improve both, the urban environment, and the territory, since both constitute the indissoluble whole in which the contemporary world develops.Las utopías urbanas siempre han buscado formas de mejorar la relación de los hombres con el territorio y también entre ellos mismos, han vinculado sociedad con ciudad, proponiendo mundos nuevos para hombres nuevos. El análisis de las teorías urbanas de los años sesenta y setenta nos proporcionan un marco de estudio donde se ve que la incipiente globalización llevó a producir una serie de proyectos teóricos, muy alejados de la realidad, en los que estructuras infinitas, extendidas por toda la Tierra, servían para dar cabida al nuevo hombre postindustrial. La realidad actual presenta algunos puntos de contacto con esos trabajos visionarios, desde el importante desarrollo de las telecomunicaciones en los últimos veinte años, y sirve de punto de partida para nuevas reflexiones que buscan mejorar tanto el medio urbano como el territorio, ya que ambos constituyen el todo indisoluble donde se desarrolla el mundo contemporáneo.
