The growing arrival of migrants to Santiago de Chile has radically modified the ways of understanding, occupying and signifying the private space of the city and at the same time has impacted spatial practices linked to the domestic sphere, through its relation to the situation of high mobility. However, the movements of meanings that occur in this context of living are unknown. The work addresses the spatial resignifications that pre-existing homes in Santiago and their domestic spaces experience with the arrival of migrants, based on a case study carried out between 2017 and 2019 in central Santiago, where an ethnographic, qualitative and interpretive approach of exploratory character. The effects that are established on the uses and meanings of housing in contexts of high mobility projects are considered, especially those on the original spaces and program and the configuration of space and domestic life. The findings show that migrants seek to spatialize life in spaces that allow constitutive spatial practices of their mobility projects. It is necessary to continue investigating the diversity of experiences of living as a migrant in Santiago, in order to validate these approaches.La creciente llegada de personas migrantes a Santiago de Chile ha modificado de manera radical las formas de entender, ocupar y significar el espacio privado de la ciudad y al mismo tiempo ha impactado sobre las prácticas espaciales ligadas al ámbito de lo doméstico, a través de su relación con la situación de alta movilidad. Sin embargo, se desconoce cuáles son los movimientos de significados que se producen en este contexto de habitar. El trabajo aborda las resignificaciones espaciales que experimentan viviendas preexistentes de Santiago y sus espacios domésticos con la llegada de personas migrantes, a partir de un estudio de caso realizado entre 2016 y 2019 en Santiago central, donde se desarrolla una aproximación etnográfica, cualitativa e interpretativa de carácter exploratorio. Se consideran los efectos que se establecen sobre los usos y sentidos de las viviendas en contextos de proyectos de alta movilidad, especialmente aquellos sobre los espacios y programa originales y la configuración del espacio y vida doméstica. Los hallazgos dan cuenta de que las personas migrantes buscan espacializar la vida en espacios que permitan prácticas espaciales constitutivas de sus proyectos de movilidad. Se requiere continuar investigando la diversidad de experiencias de habitar migrante en Santiago, con el fin de validar estos planteamientos.
