| dc.description | This paper focuses on the study of mapudungun segmental phonology in general, and the phonetic-phonological status of the voiceless alveopalatal fricative phone [ʃ] in the ched-ungun spoken in the Alto Bío-Bío, in particular. Thus, in order to determine its occurrence and distribution, an adapted lexical list from Croese (1980) was applied to a total of 30 chedungun and Spanish bilingual adults collaborators belonging to 10 pehuenches villages of this com-mune (3 collaborators of each one). Through quantitative, spectrographic and distributional evidence, it is concluded that such phone occurs with a very low frequency, and in such cases it constitutes an allophonic variant of the voiceless alveopalatal affricate phoneme /t͡ʃ/. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo tiene como foco de estudio la fonología segmental del mapudungun en general, y el estatus fonético-fonológico del fono fricativo alveopalatal áfono [ʃ] en el che-dungun hablado en Alto Bío-Bío, en particular. Para determinar su ocurrencia y distribución, se elicitó una lista léxica adaptada de Croese (1980) a un total de 30 colaboradores adultos, bilingües de chedungun y español, pertenecientes a 10 localidades pehuenches de esta co-muna (3 colaboradores de cada una). A través de evidencia cuantitativa, espectrográfica y distribucional, se concluye que dicho fono ocurre con una muy baja frecuencia, y que en esos casos se constituye en una variante alofónica del fonema africado alveopalatal áfono /t͡ʃ/.
