dc.descriptionPhonetics is a theoretical and experimental linguistic discipline. Its knowledge in its different branches has several applications in every day of our life in society: (1) in the phonetic correction so much of the own language as in the process of acquisition of other languages, always with a didactic use; (2) in the evaluation and rehabilitation of speech and hearing dysfunctions, in an application that connects with the clinical and logopedic practice; (3) in Linguistic Engineering through the synthesis and the automatic recognition; and (4) in the environment of the Justice since the analyses of Forensic Phonetics are an important test in many judicial processes. All the exposed arguments prove that Phonetics is useful and the critics that some researchers demonstrate toward this discipline is totally unjustified.en-US
dc.descriptionLa fonética es una disciplina lingüística teórica y experimental. Su buen conocimiento en sus distintas ramas tiene diferentes aplicaciones en el día a día de nuestra vida en sociedad: 1) en la corrección fonética tanto de la propia lengua como en el proceso de adquisición de otras lenguas, lo cual se relaciona con un uso didáctico; 2) en la evaluación y la rehabilitación de trastornos del habla y la audición, en una aplicación que entronca con la práctica clínico-logopédica; 3) en la ingeniería lingüística a través de la síntesis y el reconocimiento automático; y 4) en el ámbito judicial puesto que los análisis de la fonética forense son una prueba importante en muchos procesos judiciales. Todo ello demuestra que la fonética es útil y que el menosprecio que algunos demuestran hacia este tipo de saber está totalmente injustificado.  es-ES
