Commonly the Letters to the Editor have been recognized by the role of allowing the exchange of opinions between readers and authors (Fernandez & Garcia, 2005). While it is possible to see that this exchange occurs, what cannot be identified with certainty is whether the opinions that appear there turn out to be the ones that their authors wanted to express. Considering the above, the objective of this research focuses on comparing letters published in the newspapers Las Ultimas noticias and el Observador with the original ones sent, as a way of checking whether the change of the information also implies a change in the identity of the sender. The corpus consists of six letters, three per newspaper. The analysis will be carried out to identify the possible alteration of information made after the edition, through the analysis of the information omitted in the letters published.Comúnmente a las Cartas al Director se les ha reconocido la función de permitir el intercambio de opiniones entre lectores y autores (Fernández y García, 2005). Si bien es posible comprobar que este cambio se produce, lo que no es posible identificar a ciencia cierta es si las opiniones ahí vertidas resultan ser las que sus autores han querido expresar. Considerando lo anterior, el objetivo de esta investigación se centra en comparar cartas publicadas en las páginas de los diarios Las Últimas Noticias y El Observador con sus originales enviadas, como un modo de revisar si la alteración de la información supone, de igual modo, una alteración de la identidad del sujeto emisor. el corpus de trabajo consiste en seis cartas, tres por cada diario. el análisis que se realizará para identificar la posible alteración de la información que se haya realizado tras la edición se hará contrastando información elidida en las cartas publicadas.
