A nivel internacional existe contundente evidencia de que el trato dado a la víctima de abuso sexual infantil dentro del sistema legal tiende a generar una victimización secundaria. En Chile, el año 2000 se inició la Reforma procesal penal. Dentro de sus objetivos se planteó ofrecer mayores garantías para los intervinientes. Pese a que ya han pasado 14 años, se sabe poco sobre la forma en que las víctimas interpretan su participación en el sistema. En este estudio interesa evaluar los significados asociados a participar en juicios orales en niños víctimas de delitos sexuales. Se entrevistó a 5 niños, quienes significan su experiencia de participar en el juicio como algo aversivo, impuesto y que sobrevalora el testimonio por sobre su propio bienestar. Pese a lo doloroso de la situación se aprecia que los niños se esfuerzan por darle un sentido a la experiencia. En base a los resultados se considera pertinente generar modificaciones en el sistema penal de forma de disminuir el riesgo de victimización secundaria y aumentar su incidencia positiva en la reparación.  Abstract: Internationally there is strong evidence that the treatment of victims of sexual child abuse within the legal system tends to generate a secondary victimization. In Chile, a Criminal Procedure Reform began in 2000. One of its objectives was to offer the participants better guarantees. Although 14 years have passed, little is known about how victims interpret their participation in the system. In this study we are interested in evaluating the meanings associated with the participation in oral trials in child victims of sexual offenses. Five children participated in an interview about their experience of participating in the trial. The children represent this experience as something aversive, inflicted. The children express that in the trial the testimony is overestimated, as a means of evidence, rather than serving their own welfare. Despite the painful situation, the children try to make sense of the experience. The findings shows that it is necessary to generate changes in the criminal system in order to reduce the risk of secondary victimization and to increase its positive impact on the victims’ welfare.
