Abstract:The family constitutes the fundamental pillar in the formation of values and principles to make the next generations honest, responsible and useful people to society. The purpose of the investigation was to carry out an analysis and interpretation of international and national legal regulations related to the guarantee of non-domestic violence against adolescents and the study of the real situation in the Otavalo Canton (Ecuador) for the proposal of new strategies that reduce the rates of abuse towards youth. The modality used was qualitative-quantitative mixed, with statistical percentages and the subjective appreciations of those involved. The documentary and field designs were used to interpret the norms and collect the information in the reality that was studied. The techniques and instruments used were the survey and the interview, with the collection of information through the questionnaire and the interview guide, respectively. Through an intentional non- robabilistic sampling, 30 adolescents and 3 lawyers specializing in Family Law were selected. The results revealed that there is a high rate of abused adolescents in their homes and that the guarantees to protect their rights are hardly applied. As conclusions of the study, it was proposed to issue a municipal ordinance that expands the powers and actions of the Cantonal Board for the Protection of Rights, so that the specific problems of adolescents who are victims of intrafamily violence are addressed.  Keywords: legal study; domestic violence;Resumen:  La familia se constituye en el pilar fundamental en la formación de valores y principios para hacer de las generaciones de relevo personas honestas, responsables y útiles a la sociedad. La indagación tuvo como propósito realizar un análisis e interpretación de las normativas jurídicas internacionales y nacionales relacionadas con la garantía de la no violencia intrafamiliar hacia los adolescentes y el estudio de la situación real en el Cantón Otavalo (Ecuador) para el planteamiento de nuevas estrategias que reduzcan los índices de maltrato hacia la juventud. La modalidad utilizada fue mixta cualicuantitativa, con porcentajes estadísticos y las apreciaciones subjetivas de los involucrados. Se utilizaron los diseños documental y de campo, para interpretar las normas y recabar la información en la realidad que se estudió. Las técnicas e instrumentos utilizados fueron la encuesta y la entrevista, con la recopilación de información a través del cuestionario y la guía de entrevista, respectivamente. A través de un muestreo no probabilístico intencional se seleccionaron 30 adolescentes y 3 abogados especialistas en Derecho de Familia. Los resultados dejaron entrever que hay un alto índice de adolescentes maltratados en sus hogares y que las garantías para proteger sus derechos poco se aplican. Como conclusiones del estudio se planteó dictar una ordenanza municipal que amplíe las atribuciones y acciones de la Junta Cantonal de Protección de Derechos, para que se atiendan las problemáticas específicas de los adolescentes que son víctimas de violencia intrafamiliar.
