The article analyses the limitations to the exercise of the claim for specific performance for breach of contract in Chilean law, in light of the protection of the debtor's autonomy in those cases in which the performance of the contract decisions affect such autonomy. This justification makes it possible to re-read some rules of current Chilean law, and to adapt them to the main instruments of contractual harmonisation that enshrine, with some nuances and differences, these restrictions.El artículo analiza las limitaciones al ejercicio de la pretensión de cumplimiento específico por incumplimiento contractual en el derecho chileno, a la luz de la protección de la autonomía del deudor en aquellos casos en los cuales el cumplimiento del contrato decisiones que afectan dicha autonomía. Esta justificación permite releer algunas normas del derecho chileno vigente, y adecuarlas a los principales instrumentos de armonización contractual que consagran, con algunos matices y diferencias, estas restricciones.
