Romance of the Three Kingdoms is an important literature masterpiece and is worthy of studying from multiple angles. The translation is one of them. The objectives of the present article are, firstly, to introduce the translations of the book into different languages with special attention to Spanish; secondly, to analyze the repercussion of the novel beyond the literary ambit; and, thirdly and lastly, to revise the translation studies about the historic work. To reach the first two objectives, a revision of the translation of the book has been done. The products derived from the novel and translated into Spanish, such as films and videogames, have also been studied. The bibliographical revision has been accomplished by using the database Reference and Advice Coalition of National Libraries (全国图书馆参 考咨询联盟, Quanguo Tushuguan Cankao Zixun Lianmeng). The results show that the work has been translated into many languages of the world; however, there are only a few translations into Spanish. Despite the translation shortage, products based on the novel, such as films and videogames, have been detected and they have had a great popularity in Spain. Finally, among the analyzed studies (books, articles, doctoral thesis and masters’ thesis), only a small part focuses on the Chinese-Spanish combination. This highlights the existing research gap in this regard.Romance de los Tres Reinos, siendo una obra literaria de mucha importancia, merece ser estudiada desde múltiples ángulos, entre los que se encuentra la traducción. Los objetivos de este artículo son, en primer lugar, presentar las traducciones de dicha obra a diferentes idiomas, con especial atención al español; en segundo lugar, analizar la repercusión de la novela más allá del ámbito literario; y, en tercer y último lugar, revisar los estudios traductológicos acerca de esta novela. Para lograr los dos primeros objetivos, se ha efectuado una revisión de las traducciones del Romance de los Tres Reinos, así como de todos aquellos productos derivados de la obra traducidos al español, tales como películas y videojuegos. La revisión bibliográfica se ha llevado a cabo mediante un barrido de la base de datos de la Coalición de Referencia y Asesoramiento de Bibliotecas Nacionales (全国图书馆参考咨 询联盟, Quanguo Tushuguan Cankao Zixun Lianmeng). Nuestros resultados apuntan a que esta obra ha sido traducida a muchos idiomas de todo el mundo, pero que la proporción de traducciones al español es muy pequeña. Pese a la escasez de traducciones, se detectan productos basados en la obra, tales como películas y videojuegos, que han sido bien acogidos en España. Finalmente, de entre los estudios analizados (entre los que se encuentran libros, artículos, tesis doctorales y trabajos de fin de máster), solamente una pequeña parte se centra en la combinación chino-español, hecho que pone de manifiesto el vacío investigador existente en este sentido.
