The present research seeks to describe the linguistic content and the communicative skills to which this content is related according to what is indicated in the Curricular Bases currently in force in the Chilean educational system. Through the technique of content analysis, the curricular bases from seventh grade to second grade and those of third and fourth grade were analyzed. The results showed a clear predominance of contents associated with text linguistics (textual structure, coherence, cohesion) and psycholinguistics (comprehension and textual production processes) in all the axes in which the bases are articulated. The results are congruent with the adoption of the discursive turn that the teaching of the first language has adopted, although grammatical knowledge is relegated as a given knowledge that should only be applied in textual development.La presente investigación busca describir el contenido lingüístico y las habilidades comunicativas con que dicho contenido se relaciona de acuerdo con lo señalado en las Bases Curriculares actualmente vigentes en el sistema educacional chileno. A través de la técnica del análisis de contenido, se analizaron las bases curriculares de séptimo básico a segundo medio y las de tercero y cuarto medio. Los resultados arrojaron una clara predominancia de los contenidos asociados a la lingüística del texto (estructura textual, coherencia, cohesión) y a la psicolingüística (procesos de comprensión y producción textual) en todos los ejes en los que se articulan las bases. Los resultados son congruentes con la adopción del giro discursivo que ha adoptado la enseñanza de la lengua materna, aunque se relega el conocimiento gramatical como un saber ya dado que debe ser solamente aplicado en el desarrollo textual.
