The article traces the relationship between Rem Koolhaas’ graphic discourse documents in Delirious New York and the cinematic Model of Institutional Representation (MRI) that this document takes to emphasize the poetic function of the message of ‘modernization’ exported to the world through the new city model and the ‘American way of life’. The aim is to confront Koolhaas’ graphic and argumentative discourse with classic Hollywood films, as well as drawings, postcards, and images produced by the United States according to this cinematic model, to deduce how effective communication is produced at the cultural level with a view to change the popular imaginary. The power of iconic elements representative of US modernity, woven into the textual narrative he inaugurates in Delirious…, enshrines Koolhaas’s communicative technique, whose influence is evident in these days of sterile hyperrealist renderings.El artículo rastrea la relación de los documentos del discurso gráfico de Rem Koolhaas en Delirious New York con el cinematográfico Modelo de Representación Institucional (MRI) que dichos documentos adoptan para enfatizar la función poética del mensaje de la ‘modernización’ exportado al mundo mediante el nuevo modelo de ciudad y el American way of life. El objetivo es confrontar el discurso gráfico y argumental koolhaasiano con películas clásicas de Hollywood, así como con dibujos, postales e imágenes que Estados Unidos elaboró según ese modelo cinematográfico para así deducir cómo se produce una comunicación eficaz a nivel cultural con fin de cambiar el imaginario popular.
