In this article we will try to study metrics as a key aspect in the poetics of Kavafis. But, as is natural, in the task of trying to unravel the keys of that poetics, we have to make reference to the non-canonical texts, in which some of the characters of his mature poetry begin to be sketched. We have, therefore, to keep in mind the panorama of the poetic corpus left by the poet at his death, in 1933.A través del presente artículo intentaremos estudiar la métrica como aspecto clave en la poética de Kavafis. Pero, como es natural, en la tarea de tratar de desentrañar las claves de esa poética, tenemos que hacer referencia a los textos no canónicos, en los cuales comienzan a esbozarse algunos de los caracteres de su poesía madura. Tenemos, por tanto, que tener presente el panorama de todo el corpus poético que dejó el poeta a su muerte, en 1933.
