dc.descriptionThis paper discusses which is the most appropriate formulation of the problem of universals. I present my discussion by contrasting it with the proposal on this topic put forward by Rodriguez-Pereyra (2000), and I claim that, even if his attempt at formulating the problem by taking into account Nozick’s (1981) general discussion of philosophical problems is illuminating, his proposal to the effect that the problem of universals would be solved by offering the truthmakers of statements expressing simple singular predications (instances of what he calls the “many over one”) is inadequately grounded. Towards the end of the paper I defend the idea that, in keeping with a more traditional take on the problem, what it actually demands is ontological assays of instances of the so-called “one over many”.en-US
dc.descriptionEl tema de este trabajo es cuál debería ser la formulación más adecuada del problema de los universales. Presento mi discusión contrastándola con la propuesta sobre este tema presentada por Rodriguez-Pereyra (2000), y sostengo que, si bien resulta esclarecedor su intento de formular el problema a la luz de la discusión general de Nozick (1981) acerca de los problemas filosóficos, su afirmación de que el problema de los universales demanda ofrecer hacedores de verdad para enunciados que expresan predicaciones singulares (instancias de lo que él denomina el “muchos sobre uno”) está insuficientemente fundamentada. Defiendo hacia el final que, por el contrario, y retomando aquí concepciones más tradicionales del problema, lo que éste efectivamente reclama es ofrecer análisis ontológicos de situaciones que instancian el así llamado “uno sobre muchos”.es-ES
