dc.descriptionMigration has changed in recent decades and. –among the most significant changes– is the feminization it has undergone. This new reality has challenged –contradicted– the traditional “gender-blind” theoretical assumptions, according to which women had an associative pattern, following migration projects’ defined by men. Thus, reality has forced a movement of theoretical and research openness that brings the gender dimension of the migration experience to the fore. As this has happened, the plurality of potential trajectories and meanings has become evident. This article seeks to contribute to this project of making stories visible by presenting and analyzing the life stories of seven Colombian migrants. The analysis shows that subjective recognition –in its different dimensions: relational, political and social construction– is at the core of the participants’ migratory experiences. Achieving recognition results in an experience of identity expansion; on the contrary, when expectations of recognition remain unfulfilled, the experience is one of loss and constriction at the identity level and in the possibilities of relating to the social world. In this sense, we emphasize the importance of thinking of research processes as possible spaces for recognition.en-US
dc.descriptionObjetivo: Describir las experiencias y sentidos desarrollados por siete mujeres migrantes colombianas sobre su experiencia migratoria a Santiago de Chile. Método: Se utilizaron relatos de vida y creaciones visuales para conocer los significados y experiencias desde el marco de referencia de las participantes. Resultados: se presentan cuatro categorías emergentes que se articulan en torno a la experiencia de reconocimiento –su búsqueda, su ausencia– en la vida de las participantes, en tanto migrantes: “no ser nadie” como posibilidad de apertura y cambio; “Aquí ya no me pueden decir absolutamente nada”: renunciar a la vida conocida para ganar libertad y reconocimiento; “Yo no pensé que esto fuera así” la migración como experiencia de discriminación y pérdida de reconocimiento y Mirar con distancia y hacer diferencias. Conclusiones: hacer sentido de la migración supone un saber hacer con la experiencia de discriminación y racismo. El logro de reconocimiento subjetivo a través de la migración que permite contrarrestar experiencias de discriminación y racismo, se asocia a una ampliación del sentido de identidad y un fortalecimiento de la relación con el mundo social. Por el contrario, expectativas incumplidas de reconocimiento conllevan sufrimiento y repliegue respecto de la vida social, impactando negativamente en el sentido de identidad.es-ES
