This work is a descriptive cross-sectional research with a quantitative approach, it was carried out from a survey applied to 100 academics with the objective of describing the use that professors of the Faculty of Law of the University of Veracruzana of the tools of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their teaching practice and from this, find training needs, the question was: What is the use that professors of the Faculty of Law of the University of Veracruzana of the tools of Artificial Intelligence in their teaching practice and what are their training needs? The results and their discussion show that AI tools have penetrated the academic community studied for use in classes, a significant majority reports knowing them and having used them. However, their use is at a basic level and training needs are oriented towards the specialized use of AI in law.Este trabajo es una investigación descriptiva de tipo transversal con enfoque cuantitativo, se llevó a cabo a partir de una encuesta aplicada a 100 académicos con el objetivo de describir el uso que los profesores de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Veracruzana hacen de las herramientas de inteligencia artificial (IA) en su práctica docente, y a partir de ello, identificar las necesidades de formación. La pregunta fue: ¿Cuál es el uso que llevan a cabo los docentes de la Facultad de Derecho de la Universidad Veracruzana de las herramientas de la inteligencia artificial en su práctica docente y cuáles son sus necesidades de capacitación?. Los resultados y su discusión arrojan que las herramientas de la IA han penetrado en la comunidad académica estudiada para su uso en las clases, una mayoría importante reporta conocerlas y haberlas utilizado; sin embargo, su uso se da a un nivel básico y las necesidades de capación se orientan hacia el uso especializado de la IA en el derecho.
