El artículo se inicia con un caso clínico en el que se diagnóstica a una paciente como esquizofrénica. Se esboza la idea de que la psicoterapia desde siempre ha estado ligada a la psicología y a su historia. Se sugiere que las dos corrientes fundamentales de la psicología, la conductista y el psicoanálisis, que incidieron en los modelos de psicoterapia, planteaban la comprensión de la psicología como ciencia natural. Entendiendo la psiquis al interior del cerebro y relacionada con el modelo médico de enfermedad y los manuales diagnósticos, DSM y CIE10. Luego se muestra cómo dichos manuales reducen el mundo del paciente a categorías y estadísticas, desconociendo a la persona situada y contextualizada. Se elabora una crítica a esa comprensión utilizando para ello el movimiento antipsiquiátrico clásico. Sobre esa base y considerando el malestar que puede significar un diagnóstico se invita a mirar el mundo del paciente. Para ello se propone dar un giro ontológico que permita que la psicoterapia emerja en una relación de intimidad, yo - tú, propuesta por Buber. --- The article begins with a clinical case in which a patient is diagnosed as schizophrenic. It outlines the idea that psychotherapy has always been linked to psychology and its history. It is suggested that the two fundamental currents of psychology, behaviorist and psychoanalysis, which influenced the models of psychotherapy, raised the understanding of psychology as a natural science. Understanding the psyche within the brain and related to the medical model of disease and diagnostic manuals, DSM and ICD10. Then it shows how these manuals reduce the world of the patient to categories and statistics, ignoring the person situated and contextualized. A critique of this understanding is made using the classic antipsychiatric movement. On that basis and considering the discomfort that can mean a diagnosis it invites to look out at the patient's world.
